💬 SEQTA Calls For URGENT Improvements to ROUTE 555
The South-East Queensland Transport Association (SEQTA) is calling for an urgent improvement to Route 555, warning that overcrowding and inadequate morning peak frequencies continue to affect passengers travelling between Logan and Brisbane.
SEQTA welcomes the afternoon peak frequency improvements introduced last year. However, morning services still operate every 15 minutes, with passengers regularly reporting full buses and being left behind at busy busway stations.
SEQTA is calling for the 555 to operate every 7.5 minutes during the morning peak, alongside greater use of articulated buses to increase capacity and reduce overcrowding.
SEQTA is also calling for Holland Park West and Greenslopes to be removed as regular 555 stops, allowing the route to operate as a faster connection between Logan and Brisbane while other frequent bus and Metro services continue serving those stations.
Translink confirmed in April that the 555 is expected to undergo a future service review but no timeframe has been provided.
"The 555 is one of Logan's most important public transport connections, but its morning frequency simply isn't keeping up with demand", said Curtis this morning, a member of the SEQTA Taskforce.
If passengers are regularly being left behind because buses are full, that is a clear sign the service needs more capacity.
SEQTA is urging Translink and the Queensland Government to bring forward the review and deliver these improvements as soon as possible.
